Under the Covers II

We are to have Under the Covers II at the Paper Studio. Once again you get the the chance to peek inside the personal and working journals of some extraordinarily talented artists. Personal stories, sumptuous colors and evocative images draw you in for a visual feast.

Visual journals are one of the most popular and most accessible forms in the artist book genre. Visual journals have a long and rich history dating as far back to the 1400's to Leonardo da Vinci who carried a journal with him at all times so that he could sketch and record ideas, impressions, and observations as they occurred. For Da Vinci, the visual journaling process of recording questions and making daily observations visually and verbally in a sketchbook appeared to be of great importance. Contemporary visual journaling is a way to record life's experiences, feelings, emotional reactions, or one's own inner voice. Visual journaling is a creative way to respond to an internal, very personal situation verbally and visually in the sketchbook. Visual journals are a graphic diary of sorts, which includes drawings, collages, sketches, and explorations with various media.
