Barbara Burton is a fabulous printmaker and book artist. Books have been important to her since her childhood. Burton states that while she was not a good reader while she was growing up, she still spent time with all the books in our house just looking at the covers, the gilded edges, the raised or sunken letters on the spines and covers. She made my own books and stories with illustrations long before I knew it was considered art. Barbara is incorporating more recycled materials into her work: teabags, garden materials, scraps of fabric where she likes the idea of keeping found pieces of nature in pouches; safe but accessible.
